Xavier Athletics Relies On 5mRx®

The Xavier University Sports Medicine staff serves the student-athlete population through the prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Their goal is to prevent and eliminate the potential injuries that student-athletes may incur.

Consistent with the Jesuit philosophy of education and the mission of the University, the Xavier University intercollegiate athletics program strives to enhance and integrate the intellectual, moral, spiritual, emotional, social and physical growth of young men and women. Each sport operates in an environment of integrity and ethical conduct which promotes academic success, fiscal responsibility, competitive excellence, sportsmanship, community service, and equitable opportunities for all students and staff, including women and minorities.

Founded in 1831, Xavier University is a Jesuit Catholic university in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its three colleges offer 87 undergraduate majors, 55 minors and 19 graduate programs to 6,945 total students, including 4,540 undergraduates. The University is the sixth-oldest Catholic university in the nation and one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities nationwide.

As a part of keeping student athletes healthy, the Xavier University Athletic department uses the 5mRx® Dispensing Software System. “We started using 5mRx® many years ago,” said Jody Jenike, Head Athletic Trainer. “We evaluated other software systems but we would’ve been required to pay $3,500 just to use the software.  We elected to use 5mRx® since the software was free. With everything computerized, it’s easy to use.” Jody continued, “We do like the labels.  We have the labels on the flat vials customized with our school logo.  The kids need to learn how to dispense their prescriptions from the flat vials at first but once we show them how to use the vials, they actually find them easier to use.”

“We find the 5mRx® prices for the prepackaged pharmaceuticals very reasonable as well, especially helping the self-insured,” Jody shared.  “The company advises us in advance of any pending price changes and sends reminders when our inventory needs replenishment.  With all the changes surrounding Obamacare, we plan to use the new insurance adjudication capability next year to support our dispensary.”

5mRx® was founded by Bill Hartig whom Jody has known for some time.  “We like working with Bill and and the rest of the team.  They’ve always been helpful in supporting the 5mRx® dispensing software and system, which is among the safest and most convenient means to provide prescriptions to patients.”
